Competition

It’s inspiring to witness runners push their bodies to the limit at the end of a running race. Most runners can muster up enough energy for a finishing kick, especially when the finish line is in sight. However, races get really exciting when someone who appears to be running all-out finds another gear as a competitor challenges their position and initiates a battle of wills. Without competition, most runners are unable to tap into their full potential. Recognize that your competitors are not to be feared or despised, but are important allies in helping you go deeper than you could if you were running alone. Next time someone tries to pass you, rather than say to yourself, “Oh no!” Say instead, “Sweet, here’s someone who is going to help me stretch my limits.” I'm looking forward to some memorable finishes!
